Galaxy S6 turning off useful background apps
I have a Galaxy S6 running Android 5.1.1, and I've been using several apps that do their work in the background. I have a couple of scheduling programs to mute/unmute the phone during certain times and certain calendars events (Phone Scheduler and Mute-o-Matic). I also use a screen dimmer app (Twilight) that is also scheduled to turn on and off daily.
The problem is that these apps work inconsistently. Sometimes the phone will not be muted or unmuted until I manually start the app that was supposed to do it. When I use the phone at night, the screen dimmer sometimes suddenly turns off until I go and start the app.
I tried turning off App Optimization, but other than that I don't know where to look for. I've tried to Google around, but mostly people are looking to turn off background apps rather than keep them alive.
I used these same apps with my old HTC One (M7) and they worked perfectly. My S6 is running stock Samsung stuff, and I haven't made any system-level modifications.
I would like to know how to fix this because I depend on these kinds of apps to keep my phone quiet during meetings etc. Thanks.
