Galaxy S6 updates off AT&T's network?

I have a Galaxy S6 Active and I use T-mobile. To get the OTA updates I've been borrowing a friend's AT&T SIM. However, I've also read that you can apply the updates using Odin. My understanding is that the Odin route wipes data, so I went the "borrow SIM" route.

If I'm wrong and there's a way to apply the update without losing data, please correct me as I'd like to know that as well. :-\

Sure you can sideload ota updates. Also you can borrow someones att SIM, update and go back to your tmo SIM.

Thanks for the comments. Since I don't know anyone else who uses AT&T, what are the steps for updating via ODIN? Are updates via this method non-destructive / non-wipe?

Someone over at xda posted that you can use Samsung software (whatever replaced kies) to get (carrier specific, from memory) updates. Maybe pop in the sim card that came with the phone, set the phone to airplane mode, and update via Wi-Fi. AoN

That's a good suggestion. Do you have a link to the xda post? I'd be willing to give it a try, but will have to wait for an update. :)

I don't, sorry, I was just going from memory. I'll take a look when I get home tonight, searching xda from phone is too painful.

I would love to find a way to get the AT&T updates. I am in Canada, so getting a hold of an AT&T SIM card is not really a possibility....
