Although I have posted in the past, I'm normally a lurker when it comes to these forums. I am posting a serious question today as I am at my wits end with this issue.
I just recently bought a Fitbit Blaze for myself and the wife. She has the Galaxy S7 while I have a BB KEYone. I set my Blaze up with the required app from Google Play had absolutely no problems getting the smart watch working.
Now, onto the GS7. After a couple of attempts at the start the watch would not sync with app on the Galaxy phone. I did a quick research and learned about the compatibility list on Fitbit.com. It showed that the Galaxy S7 was compatible with the Blaze. Keep this in mind, the KEYone is not on the list at all. Not even a mention of any Blackberry as a manufacturer. I understand BB10 and earlier not on the list. But, you would think the Android versions should be included.
Anyhow, I finally got the watch to sync with app. It was working great for a while, then when we went to manually sync the phone in the app, a red dot with an exclamation point showed up. So tried syncing again, and same thing. After doing this continuously I did some trouble-shooting suggestions but to no avail.
I started reading the Fitbit forums and the number one complaint on the Blaze was syncing issues with the Galaxy series phones. There were others, but Samsung was the most predominate complaint. I get it, Samsung wants to push their own Gear series smartwatches, but not everyone wants to fork over $500 (CDN) for a fitness tracker/smart watch.
My Fitbit Blaze stopped receiving notifications after their most recent app update. I am considering on returning the Blaze's for something else I just don't know what.
Does anyone here have any suggestions on a decent fitness tracker/smart watch that is compatible with Galaxy S7? I am looking around the $200-$300 (CDN) range.
What bugs me about the whole thing is the device compatibility thing with Android if you need bluetooth anyways. Can someone explain that as well please? I did a comparison with Apple iPhones and they are all compatible from as far back as the 4S.
