Galaxy S7 Can't download apps or use some currently installed apps over wifi.

I have just bought a Galaxy S7 Edge. I can't install any apps or use some apps via my wifi connection. I can browse using google app and chrome just fine. I can however install all apps and use all apps over my 4g data. I can install all apps and use my apps when I'm connected to my work wifi and my parent's wifi. Most people would think it's my internet connection but WRONG. My wife's Galaxy S5 can download and use apps over our wifi and so can my Galaxy Tab S, Laptop and Windows tablet. So it seems it's only the new Galaxy S7 Edge that I bought is doing this. I tooken it back and received a new Galaxy S7 Edge but the issue still remains. Has anyone been experiencing the same issues.

Here is what I have done to try to resolve the issues so far:
1. Reboot my phone
2. Factory Reset my phone
3. Force Stop Google Play Store app cleared cache and deleted data and restarted phone.
4. Turn on and Off wifi, forget network and reconnect.

The only solution I have found that works is to install DNSet.

Re: Galaxy S7 Can't download apps or use some currently installed apps over wifi.

Welcome to Android Central! Even though other devices work fine on your wi-fi, it's still worth rebooting the router (by unplugging its power for 10 seconds, then plugging back in again). It's not unusual for only one device to have issues with wi-fi, and for a router reboot to solve the issue.

See this guide for more ideas: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...roubleshooting-wi-fi-connection-problems.html

Same issue here. S7 Edge Tmobil. Other phones working fine via wifi. S5, S3, etc. Running speedtest.net via wireless works with no issues. Did you ever get your issue resolved?

same issue here. Verizon s7 edge is taking hours to download from store. New router rebooted, changed channels and tries 2.4 and 5 ghz. same results . Slow as hell but my note 3 works fine. The s7 edge screams when on other networs tho and on public wifi. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Disable ipv6 on router

I had the same problem with my T-Mobile S7 Edge, disabling the IPv6 feature on my router fixed the problem.

Re: Galaxy S7 Can't download apps or use some currently installed apps over wifi.

That appears to work. Thanks. What are the downsides of having ipv6 disabled? Will other devices be affected?

Re: Galaxy S7 Can't download apps or use some currently installed apps over wifi.

Disabling IPv6 on my SonicWALL did not fix the problem. Didn't have this issue with the HTC One M8 that I just replaced with the S7. Any other ideas?

Re: Galaxy S7 Can't download apps or use some currently installed apps over wifi.

No, some devices may benefit from that being switched.

I turned IP6v back on, on my Apple Airport TC. I have no problems with it. Just as fast as before.

I have The exact same problem, also tried the same thing only to realize DNSet is the only fix that works. However I dont want to have an app constantly running in the background just because my phone isnt working properly.. Samsung support suggested I send the phone back to where I bought it so samsung can take a look at it.
Did you find another solution yet?

I'll add my "me, too" here. With a dual band Netgear router, what I found was that it works fine on a guest network.

Strange stuff.

Same problem here with Galaxy 7edge. Has anyone talked to their carrier to see what they say? I bought the phone through AT&T and I'll be giving them a call. This is ridiculous.

Guest network, this might be working for me, I will have to give it some time. Can anyone explain why tho? Just seems odd.

Re: Galaxy S7 Can't download apps or use some currently installed apps over wifi.

I had the same problem, Galaxy 7 with Tmobile, can't access Google play or stream Pandora. I turned on the ipv6 on Dlink router, tunnelling 6to4 address. That fixed the problem. Good luck.

I've personally confirmed this is an issue the Galaxy s7 is having with the router IPV6 settings.

This explains why some owners of the s7 have no issue while others do. Everyone has different routers and network configurations, some do not support ipv6 anyway and some may have it off by default. While the fix is made on the router, the issue is with the phone, a consumer device should work with the broadest set of technology available and a new phone should never require modern networking protocols to be turned off.

My network setup was a Pfsense Firewall handling all routing and DHCP functions with my ASUS RT-N66U Wifi Router acting purely as a Wifi Access point.

I had to disable IPV6 on my Pfense firewall so that no IPV6 info was passed through the Wifi to the S7.

I did this under System: Advanced: Networking and unchecked "Allow IPV6". The important step is to then go to your phone and forget the Wifi network and then reboot for good measure. I then connected and Google Play responded quickly and normally.

I had to turn off my Mobile Networks - Mobile Data and Enhanced LTE Services and then login to WIFI to make it download apps. It would not even work on Mobile Data, alone. I'm still testing for other ways to make it work.
