Galaxy S7 Edge - early issues thread

Hearing a few reports of heat. One contributing factor is the new cooling spreading the heat around the back of the phone

Yeah, that's what I was going to say. The point of the heat pipe is to route heat away from the processor. If the back gets warm, that's probably the cooling system doing it's job.

Re- Speaker. Yep - that's what happens to speakers that are wet, once it dries it should be as good as new as seen with the S5, and Gear S.

Hoping we can get a thread for anyone experiencing problems with their new S7 Edge. This isnt a hate thread, I love my new phone. I am seeing a few possible issues though:

1. Straight from the box, the device is running very hot, only when screen is on. (yes, I've rebooted and closed all apps).
2. I tested the waterproofing by running under the faucet. Just a light flow of water, but AFTER fully drying and waiting for a good 30+ minutes to test, it did distort the speaker for a few hours, and the phone would freak out if I tried to plug in to charge. Again, it was FULLY dried and I waited 30+ minutes. It took a couple of hours for the cable charging to work again.
3. Turning on ULTRA power saving mode completely killed my google now launcher settings. Removed all widgets and shortcuts, other than 1 google folder. This may be a known issue, just mentioning it for others.

Again, I am LOVING this new phone. Every phone ever made has a few quirks. Just sharing info here :)

Good to know, thank you. I waited almost an hour, and fully towel dried the phone, and the charger was acting crazy for a while. Not an ongoing problem though, it did resolve itself.

Thank you captain obvious :) I do know what water is. I clearly said that the phone was completely dry, and this was for several hours after drying as well. So the water does get a little further into the speaker than it should, and definitely more so than Xperia phones I've had as well as the GS5. Not a problem though. Just an observation.

Maybe the new "Cooling" is not cooling so great?

Wouldn't be surprising, to be honest - the liquid cooling thing certainly didn't work for the Lumia 950XL.

I'm hoping the Exynos once are ok. The latest Qualcomm processors all seem to run hot like h*** and then the phone needs to throttle down the speed to prevent overheating. I've had that on the Nexus 5X and the Priv as well. Also explains the stuttering performance when it runs hot.

Stuttering or unresponsive screen are 2 of the most aggravating problems a phone can have.

I am having that plus the the SD card notification keeps coming up anyone else having that.

I'm having an issue with the AUX cable. Tried two different cables with two different S7 Edges and they both get static.

I am having the same issues. I am using a Samsung SD Card. I thought I could find away to shut this off via notifications in settings menu. However I could not find anything that would possibly help.

Mine ran hot as i installed all my apps and such on the phone. Nothing since.

I haven't and don't plan to test the waterproofing. That's kind of a safe guard IMO.

I'm still getting used to the physical buttons. I've never had a sammy. And it's quite slippery in the hand. It's a beautiful device though.... And runs smooth as butter for me, no scrolling lag at all.

I had and issue this morning I took the phone off the charger the phone was on but the screen was black could hear sound but no screen.

So I had to boot in to recovery and restart the phone. I too have noticed a small lag when scrolling

Same for me. Snapdragon unit here . My phone froze, the screen turned black and made a very loud noise out of nowhere at the same time. I'm not sure why.... the phone gets pretty hot too. Also as I type this my phone isn't charging fast at all. It's been at 25% for the past 20 minutes and battery life hasn't been too great either. I just hope all these issues are software bugs...

I had that same problem with my Note 4 on San Disk. Picked up a Samsung SD card and the problem stopped. I don't know if that was coincidental or there's something to it, but that stopped the prompts.
