Galaxy s7 edge Mobile hotspot not working error message on grandfathered unlimited plan

I have the unlimited grandfathered plan and updated to nougat which does not allow the use of FoxFi. However Android gave me mobile hotspot free for 30 days. When I try to turn on my mobile hotspot I get this error message:
com. Samsung.spg was not granted this permission: android permission. WRITE_SETTINGS.
Verizon customer service and Technical Support along with Samsung technical support do not know what is happening or what this error messages please help!!

Welcome to Android Central! What do you mean that "Android gave me mobile hotspot free"? Who is Android?

Was the phone originally from Verizon, or from a different carrier?

Am I understanding your statements right that ANDROID has somehow granted you 30 days free hotspot on your carrier plan? Google/Android don't have that ability, without the blessing of your carrier and this is the first I'm hearing of this kind of deal. Do you have a link?

Unfortunately, without understanding the circumstances of the "free trial" there isn't a whole lot we can do to help. Android isn't a business entity per se, and I don't believe anyone here has ever seen where "Android" has granted a free trial of hotspot as permitting hotspot functionality is a function of the carrier plan.

Without understanding this "free trial" and how it came to be, we can't assess an app error as it's not really clear what app is generating the error.

I'm having the same issue. No idea what they were talking about with the free trial, but it's irrelevant.
The error pops up when trying to turn on mobile hotspot in the settings menu. Galaxy S7, not rooted, Verizon and my plan supports hotspot.
