Galaxy S7 Edge - Optimal Temperature & Heat

Hi guys,

I've been using the GS7 Edge for about a week now and I've noticed my cpu / battery idles around 30 degrees Celsius. It dips to 28 degrees occasionally, and peaks at 32 degrees. When I simply browse or use gmail it heats up to 32-33. Maximum it has reached so far is 35 when I am outside and browsing.

I constantly feel like my phone is warm around the camera and in my pocket. I have already wiped cache, turned off a lot of sync and disabled a few apps.

Does this warrant a replacement? What temperatures are you guys hitting when it's just sitting on your desk?

Thanks!

When under heavy load I see cpu temp regularly reaching 80s or 90s degrees C.

In idle, cpu Temps are in the 50s ish degrees C usually.

(S7 here) I'm trying to figure out why my battery temp goes up and down during the day when I'm not doing anything with it, and I disabled a lot of apps. I'm using OS Monitor to see what processes are using CPU and have the list down very small. Battery life is fine but I find it disconcerting to have my phone feel warm when it's just in my pocket doing nothing. It doesn't get particularly hot, just warm as the battery temp is low-mid 80's Fahrenheit then sometimes cools to ambient (mid-70s). I don't know why I notice the heat so much on this phone. On my moto x I did not feel warmth until upper 80's or lower 90's. Maybe has to do with the glass back?

S7 runs hot?

Wondering, just traded my s7 edge because the big screen doesn't suit me, plus the edges kept accidently making touch apps, settings and random stuff. Now with the regular s7, I noticed it runs hot. Installed cpuz and temps for the battery are usually at ~31C. Anyone having similar experiences? Just now it's at ~32.5. Regardless it just feels warmer to the touch and much warmer after watching some YouTube and related videos. Any thoughts.

Phone settings are normal, or what I would call normal. Disabled most bloated, screen brightness is at auto.

Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: S7 runs hot?

I noticed the S7 I'm using was real warm after the initial data sync, but it hasn't felt warm in my hand since. The closest I got to it being actually warm to the touch after that first sync was in the Gear VR, but it cools back down quite fast for me.

Re: S7 runs hot?

Mine always feels warm after being in my pocket where my pocket temp is generally around 83F (I actually measured with a thermometer). At room temp it feels cooler in hand. I didn't notice my moto x feeling warm in hand after taking it out of my pocket but I wonder if it's a combination of the type of case and material of the phone that causes heat to dissipate differently. I haven't seen the phone go higher than low 90's from typical use but I haven't really stressed it too much.

This goes for me as well (except I have the S7 Edge). On initial data sync when it was puling all my apps down over LTE and installing it got pretty warm but after that it hasn't happened. On occasional high data stress it warms up a little but cools down quickly.

Re: S7 runs hot?

On initial data sync mine got a little too hot for my taste but its been just warm ever since doing regular tasks. Just hit me since the edge didn't get as warm and with the S7 i noticed it immediately. I went to a store nearby and put the S7 and edge to stream some videos on youtube, the Edge did stay a few degrees cooler but never over 5 difference. I really like the phone and i wouldn't go back to the Edge, love the regular S7 but man its simply not pleasant to handle for long periods of time. Just downloaded "Phone INFO" to check the CPU and battery temps, make sure they don't get out of whack. I'd really hate to have to return the phone but i do use my phone constantly throughout the day and this isn't really acceptable. Hate to say it but this never experienced this with iPhone 6 :(

S7 as well and i didn't have any heat complaints until i switched from s7 edge s7. Not sure if it was related to my particular phone or in general but my S7 gets hot. battery idles at ~30C, never seen it over 36C and the CPU seems to be at around 45C, this is just sitting. Honestly speak i don't like and i don't recall the last time my phone felt cool, its usually warm.

Every app available in Play store is showing wrong readings in my opinion because the device being in low temp. (according to the apps) is more warm to touch when compared to my other devices under normal load.

I've had a uk exynos s7 5.1"" for a few weeks , haven't noticed it getting hot yet , its cool its on charge at the moment and I'm surfing the net and temperature is 26.7℃

Which app did you use to measure the temperature?

es task manager , click on about device

the temperature on my exynos s7 after an 1 hr browsing and playing music is 27.6℃

cooler master
playstore
Mine at idle as in pics attached. Don't know why it's a bit warm every time. And the heat causing apps it's showing doesn't make any sense as some apps are not even running in the background as in the pics.

exynos 5.1 s7 running super cool
in my other pics I'd just been charging it 99% CPU heat 27%

not charging at idle and CPU heat 23%
