Galaxy S7 Edge SD Card Issues

Ok now i tried a 16gb Samsung Evo card and its working fine but my 64gb Samsung Evo card working great on other phone (S4)

I have not had that issue. Mine was made 05/24/16 Korea. My Sim tray was super tight though. I did not have that issue my original s7 edge though either. And I got that one on release date.

Everytime i restart the phone the card gets corrupted and i had to format it to use it and reformatting i have done it almost 25 times till now with all the phone with the New S7 Edge

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to see if anyone was having a similar issue to what I am experiencing. I have a Galaxy S7 edge for T-Mobile. I have a Samsung 128GB Micro SD card installed. The past couple of days I have been getting constant notifications saying "Preparing SD Card" or "SD Card: For transferring photos and media" and expanding the notification gives me options to "explore" or "reject". I took it to Best Buy for the Samsung dude to look at it, and there was another S7 edge owner there with the same issue. Has anyone else experienced this? Do you know if a fix? The Samsung dude cleared the cache in my files, but that didn't do the trick...

Thanks!

I just literally installed my brand new Samsung 128 gb micro SD chip. I cannot copy/move files nor create a new folder within the SD cards directory. I have tried rebooting my phone and formatting the card. No dice. Still cannot use the SD card

I've had this problem too but it has seemed to go away. Now, my phone keeps losing the SD card installed! I've gone through 3 SD cards and one phone replacement and still have the same issue.
If I download a movie or save a pic from a text message, then 7 out of 10 times I will be prompted to insert an SD card even though there is one in the phone! Every time this happens I need to pull out the SD card a couple of times before the phone registers that there is one, or put the SD card in my computer and click on 'repair errors'. Then I need to re-insert the card into the phone and re-create all my music playlists.

I've had the alert for just a week.....well it had also wiped out some of my photos, ring tones, etc! Sooooooo freaking bummed! I have taken the SD card out for fear I'll loose more photos that were saved to it. I plan on purchasing a new one and praying that if I do an update the issue is fixed ! Fingers and toes crossed 🙄

Good luck! I went through 3 SD cards (1 Samsung EVO, 2 Sandisk) and the problem was still there. I even tried putting box tape on the top of my SD card to hold it on the tray to no avail. I decided to go ahead and jump to the Galaxy Note 7.
Note for you. When you lose your files on your SD card, you can try putting it in your computer. I've done that and my computer would tell me that there are errors on the SD card and if I want to fix them. Click to fix the problems and all your files should be back on your SD car.

I having issues with my SD Card - the software informs me that "MADE IN VIETNAM 22.02.2016

I am not sure if this is related but laley my phone has been freezing and hanging on a regularly bases.

I have the same problem when I enter my SD card the phone freezes. And my phone is also made in Vietnam. How did u solve that problem?

Same here - after inserting SD into my brand new phone it became unstable. Even had to hard reboot by pressing sound down + power buttons.
My SD card is SanDisk Ultra 32GB. It was working perfectly on my S5. My failing S7 edge is manufactured in Vietnam on 04/13/2016.
Besides my car is unable to import contacts from S7. S5 had no problems. Already thinking to go back to S5 and to have peace of mind.

Did you format the card in the phone after you put it in?

Ideally you format the card in the new phone you use it in. Does not matter if it was working perfectly before. You're transferring data from an older version of Android. You need ti start fresh.

I have had my phone replaced 2 times due to this issue, all 3 of the phones had issues with sd card randomly not reading it's a right pain.

I have now fixed my issue, what was causing it was a think sim card that was allowing movement to the sd card, to fix this I have rubbed down the sim card and added a small part of tape around the mid of the sd card. Not ideal on a phone made in 2016 but with innovation comes flaws am sure Samsung will sort this in future designs.

So glad it wasn't my 200GB sd at fault.

Oh mine was 11/03/16 Vietnam

Cheers

You're very forgiving.

Hey guys

My phone has the exact same problem.
So I got my first phone (Samsung galaxy S7 edge, 32gb) from T-mobile in June. I used to get the error message and an update prevented the error message from popping up but my memory card would keep getting "corrupted" and then after a few weeks, it would be fine. It happened three times and I let it be (twice it started working by itself and another time, I had to remove the card and reseat it). The fourth time it happened, I took it to T-mobile (on 11/26/2016). The manager there checked out the phone and the card and determined it was the phone (phone was made in Vietnam). He put in a warranty replacement and got me a new phone which I got last night.
I put in the same sd card I used in the old phone (Sandisk, 64gb), formatted it, transferred pictures onto it and it worked fine). Today morning, less than 24 hrs later, the same trouble has started. The pictures appeared as a broken file in the gallery and then, in restarting my phone, it disappeared from my gallery. SD card works fine though (I put it in another phone (HTC One E8) and everything appears fine on that phone.). I downloaded phone info and this phone is also made in Vietnam (date 2016.03.14). This issue is beginning to get in my nerves now. The phone is fully paid off for and I can't seem to get them to get me an iPhone even if I'm willing to pay extra.
Any help guys? What do you suggest?

Regards,
Vipin

It's the 3rd time my S7 has decided the SD card is unsupported / corrupted it.

This time, I've just run an android update and it immediately corrupted the card.

I've been to the Samsung store twice before and both times they said it was probably the card. This is the 3rd Samsung card, it is only 2 weeks old.

Obviously there is something wrong with either the phone or the software NOT the card.

"Go to Apps -> Settings -> Display and turn Smart stay off. Restart the S7/S7 Edge."

Mine was never turned on.

I've been having this same problem with my S7 Edge where it seems the card often disappears. If I go to the "My Files" browser app, the SD card is available but it shows no files.

I've tried re-formatting the card in the phone but that didn't help, same problem after format.

The way that I'm able to fix this problem, is to just restart the phone and then the card and all my files on it starts working again. Then it seems the next time I need to access the card for photos or music, it's gone again. So I don't believe the card tray is the problem because if I reboot the phone without touching the card, then why would the card and files show back up after reboot?

This is frustrating, I bought this phone over an iPhone for one reason.....it had an SD Card slot!!!!
