Galaxy S7 zooms in A LOT on photos when I try to set a wallpaper.

I used to just be able to pick a photo and that would be my wallpaper. All of the sudden, when I pick a photo from the Gallery it zooms in SO much that most photos are unusable (e.g., a selfie would just look like half your face when set as a wallpaper). This problem makes 99% of pictures unusable as wallpaper. I had this happen on a glitchy S7 when I first got it (and then quickly returned it). Just to be clear, I never had to mess around with resolution or sizing before--I just picked a photo and then it was my wallpaper. I have wallpaper scrolling off, and didn't adjust any camera settings.
