Galaxy S8+ Battery Life Results (PhoneArena)

Re: Another Battery Tesf for Galaxy S8 and S8+

That's not bad at all. I figured the S8+ would have better battery life. I can't see a reason, other than small hands, to get an S8 vs an S8+

5:50 hrs is close to what I get on the S7 edge (just a little over 5 hrs). This is getting me hyped up. Can't wait. Hopefully it starts shipping early...like sometime this week.

Looks like you will have to keep a Power with QC 3.0 like i have of Anker when you travel
Note 7 had better battery life than the S7 Edge & mine did not blow up
happens only in US lol

I could be wrong but shouldn't production software affect SOT that may improved over what it is now?

These initial battery life estimates look pretty good. Battery life hasn't been an issue for me because I have several strategically placed wireless charging pads. I love wireless charging.

I'm getting the s8 plus specifically because of the larger battery. I have access to chargers everywhere I go in my daily routine but you never know when the power will go out! I'll also run it on the default resolution settings.

this is my plan. I have given up on thinking a phone battery can keep up with me. I got the V20 for the replaceable battery, but now I'm swapping batteries 1 to 2 times a day.

So I got the S8+ on pre-order, I already have 3 wireless chargers, going to grab another fast one and I should be good

I would use max resolution all the time. I'm going to buy the best screen there is and downgrade it voluntarily? NO
Absolutely agree!!
What is the point of getting a phone
With qhd+ if you're going to downscale the resolution to 1080p???
Specially this phones that are all about the screen
If you want a phone at 1080p
Save your money and buy a lesser phone

I would only need full resolution for games and movies. Other than that can you really tell the difference?

You're right, you can't really tell the difference, qhd+ is only necessary for video and games... But are you going to be switching manually every time you're going to watch a video or play a game, and then switching back when the video is finished???
That doesn't make any sense
My s8+ is going to stay at qhd+ since day 1
Now... Does any body know of a battery test with qhd+????

Most people can't tell the difference between fhd and qhd on a smartphone outside of virtual reality. I say "most people" because I suppose there's someone out there with mutant superhuman powers that can see some difference. The reality is, pretty much all video tops out at 1080p anyway, and human vision (assuming no mutant powers) cannot discern beyond 350 ppi anyway (the fhd screen on the Note 3 is 386 ppi). The best test for you is to have someone randomly switch the S7 Edge between fhd and qhd and see if you can guess better than 50/50. I'd bet a lot of money that practically no one would be able to hit even 60%,

Shame is not as good as the iphone which is old now and that may mean the new iphone will beat it battery life.
Don't get me going with the alleged iphones new design, camera , stereo speakers
The iPhone will always beat Samsung, because the iPhone has a lesser screen and not nearly as many features as the new Samsung's. I'm perfectly ok with being beat by the iPhone in that department. In the real world all my friends and family with iPhones seem to be searching for a charger all the time when I rarely need to charge more than once a day.

Apple has always made an effort to make sure they're numbers, processing power, display quality, run time numbers, are better than previous model numbers and make a point to show say it and show it in their presentations when they release... so I wouldn't bet on them doing anything less than that on their 10th anniversary phone.

Should be interesting cause i think the PhoneArena article that mentioned S8+ battery life still didn't top the iPhone 7 Plus battery at I think it was 9 hours?!

iPhone going with an OLED display... more power efficiency. Their A11 at 10nm same as Snapdragon 835... should get similar level of power efficiency. Should be interesting.

I'm curious to see how much this changes with iPhone 8 supposedly switching to OLED.

Here's a video where the S8 Plus destroyed the iPhone 7 Plus in a battery test. I know this isn't exactly real world usage but very impressive nonetheless. Looks like the 10 nm chipset makes a big difference..

The biggest battery draining culprit?
Screen? No
Wifi? No
Location? No
Bluetooth/NFC? No
Bixby? Yes. Of course!

That deeply rooted, baked-in, forced upon us, intrusive, constantly running, listening to our voice, writing out its own code, piece of nuscience... yup that's the culprit.

Just saw this... The S8 plus lasts
40 % longer than iphone 7 plus

Thanks to Oled screen tech Wich spends 30% less energy than its Lcd counterpart
If that's not great battery life I don't know what is
