Galaxy S8: Call Log Blank

Recently my call log has ceased to log any data: no missed calls, received calls, or anything. If I call someone or get a call and need to call them back, usually I go to recent calls and just tap the one I need if I need to call them back, but the recent call log is always blank now.

What is happening?

Welcome to Android Central. Try Settings, Apps, Apps Manager and find your phone app. Do a force stop, clear cache and clear data in that order. Reboot and see if that helps.

but more than just knowing how to fix it, I am interested to know why this happened and how I can prevent it in the future.

Because computers get glitched up. Stop using computers

Sorry, had to get that in Stuff just happens, I think it helps to reboot the phone every week or two to refresh everything.
