Galaxy s8 secure folder

On my Galaxy s8 I am trying to transfer a notes app containing information. When I try to do this, I am taken to a thumb nail list of apps. I click on what looks like my notes app, but what ends up in my file has an entirely different format once you open it and contains none of he information I'm trying to secure.

I don't think that's how it works. The secure folder basically does a separate new install inside of the secure folder. I had some notes on my s8 that I wanted to move into the secure folder but what I ended up doing was just copying and pasting the content into a new note inside of the secure folder.
