Galaxy S9+ battery died, turned back on with 35%?

[Android Central Question]

Anyone else experience this? My phone reached 0% life and turned off, but when I plugged it into my charger, it came up with 35% battery life. I turned the phone back on while on the charger and the 35% was still there? I unplugged my phone and nothing happened. Still at 35%. I'm letting it charge still, though.

i think it is a sign that the battery needs to be replaced.
i had this on my old s6 and the phone would just switch itself off when the battery was around 16-20%.
