Galaxy S9+ not recognising external microphone, is there a way to make it work?

Hi All,
I have been reading about issues people have been having connecting an external microphone (in my case RODE Lavalier 2014 model) to a Samsung Galaxy S9+ where the handset does not recognise the mic is there.
This is even when the correct TRRS connector is being used, without rubber case and external mic source is being selected in either Open Camera or Filmic Pro apps.

Wondered if anybody had similar issues with the S9+ or not? Or had found a workaround they could share please?

Hi, I was going to use the Rode SC4 Cable - 3.5mm TRS to TRRS Adaptor - as I have a RODE lavalier mic.
Is the important issue to make sure I use a splitter in order for it to work? If this is the case would any splitter do, or will the audio-input quality be affected by a poor quality splitter?

Hi, the link I provided appears to confirm it essential to have a signal splitter for it to work. As to which splitter, I'm sorry I can't help. There seems to be a bug on the forum when links are submitted so I can't see the splitter you are thinking of. Personally, I would check out reviews, using Google, to see what users think.
