Several times a week, when I click the power button to wake up the screen (it was already on) the screen will not come on no matter how long I press the button. I can only turn it on by removing the battery and restarting it.
Does anyone else have this issue?

I do keep it in my pocket, maybe I am too sexy for my phone.
But then again, I see lots of downgrades the Android 4 vs Continuum Android 2.2

I did have this same problem as did my wife with her galaxy tab 10.1 she had honey comb and I had gingerbread. Once she got ICS her problem stopped. I just got the Jelly Bean update today and hope the same will happen for me. What version do you have?

wow...I have been having this exact same problem for weeks. I even tried another i777 phone and it did the same thing. amccombs, do you use the go launcher ex? I have been using it, and I just restored the phone and haven't installed it yet to see if maybe that is what was causing my issue. so far my phone has responded from sleep mode when I press the power button.

I do not have go launcher.
The phone froze up while sitting on my desk, so it does not have to be in my pocket.

I didn't have a launcher installed either. When I was on the phone with samsung yesterday they told me if the Jelly Bean update didn't fix the problem that I would have to do a warranty claim on it.

i restored mine, and 2 days in it has not frozen at all. it wakes up every time I press the power button. I have not put the go launcher back on.

My S2 has been randomly shutting down while on standby mode. Most of the time, I had to keep the power button pressed for about at least 5 seconds, then hold it again to boot it (as you would usually hold it to power it on). My new S2 which came pre loaded with 4.0.4 has been having this problem since the day i bought it. Please let me know if the official JB (4.1.2) update resolved this issue so i can take a breath of relief.
