Im confused about the ram. So I use that clean master app and it always says im at 89-90% of my ram used? But I dont even have apps running much. Is there alot of app in background thats using the ram or is it not a big deal?

Re: 1gb of ram?

If you start getting very close to full, things can bog down a bit. But be cautious when using an app like CleanMaster to estimate the RAM usage, because some of that usage may actually be from the CleanMaster app itself. I notice this phenomenon when using All-in-One Toolbox. A better indicator of RAM usage would be to go to Settings>Apps>Running, and look at the bar at the bottom.

Im new at this but things like clean master and the du battery saver, are those worth having?

Also when I go to running apps, it shows apps that I dont have on running? Like my nfl mobole app is off but shows 20mb using

Re: 1gb of ram?

I don't use those apps, so it's hard for me to say. My Nexus 5 and 2013 Nexus 7 function extremely smoothly without any of those types of apps, so I only have All-in-One Toolbox installed just in case I have to troubleshoot an issue (which has been never).

I like the tool box app. I just downloaded it to try out

Re: 1gb of ram?

On mine, holding Home offers the Task Manager in bottom left. Including RAM manager. I range anywhere from 0.63-0.92GB/1.33GB of memory usage. Ignore the third party system hogs.

So far, think if you have lots of background chatter like Skype, Facebook, Steam and such it leaves even less room for other tasks. On a 1GB device I would be getting way too close to the upper boundary of 800-850MB or so usable memory. Which again leaves me thinking the Tab 3 7.0 LTE and the Tab 3 8.0 are the best general-use and social tablets from Samsung for now. The regular 7.0 and the 10.1 with 1GB are more likely to have multi tasking lag. A pity since the 10.1's chip is even faster than the 7.0 LTE, without 1.5-2.0GB it can be crippled....

Re: 1gb of ram?

Edit Post just failed on me, so reply it is. Lowest consumption of memory after the built-in RAM cleaner is 580MB/1.33GB. Which if also true on 7.0 wifi or 10.1, indicates you only have 300MB or so for programs. The 7.0 lte and 8.0, mega 6.3 have more than DOUBLE the free memory for applications and background tasks...food for thought.

Even with it at high the unit doesn't feel slow for some reason?

Re: 1gb of ram?

High memory usage you mean? Well that is good news. Single programs like games or web browser are the main risk to lag or freeze.

Re: 1gb of ram?

Yeah I really don't get it why they crippled the Tab 3 line with so little ram. 1.5 is actually fine. But less than that, just such a waste.

Why does my iphone 4s run well with 500mb of ram?

Why does some apps keep running example when I run clean master, it shows my face book is on when I never use it turned it on. Also google play store and google account manager using most ram

Tuning software for just one chip ala iPhone/Moto X/htc Hero always yields results but it takes a lot more time. Services auto start themselves which is why folks get crabby if Facebook et al cannot be completely uninstalled....I think iPhone has some way to cheat by using a centralized notification API? Some of their development tools looked really weird.

This article might help you understand a little better how RAM is managed in Android: http://www.androidcentral.com/ram-what-it-how-its-used-and-why-you-shouldnt-care. I don't know the inner workings of an iPhone, but part of the reason iPhones tend to run so smoothly is that everything, and I mean everything, is optimized to run on that one piece of hardware. There isn't the huge variety of hardware that Android faces. So that's a big plus, but in my view also a big minus, of iOS (the minus being almost complete lack of variety or choice of hardware).
