Galaxy Tab Owners: Is the Galaxy Tab too small???

Is the 7-inch screen too small?

I strongly do not feel that 10" is too big, for most applications. Honestly I just went to see an iPad in person for the first time a couple weeks ago. I laughed thinking about how many people said it was too big. I also laugh at my wife's 17" laptop. haha.

However, I would not want to use an iPad on a bus... or taxi... or subway... or maybe even an airplane.

Not picking on you or anyone that thinks 10" isnt convient. Convenience is a matter of opinion for me 10" is convient. The few days ive had it, I havent had any problems taking it anywhere I went. To me 10" is perfect size. I wonder what folks will say when an 10", Gingerbread, Android tablet is available, will that be too big for you too? Boggles my mind how one cant use both operating systems and have the best of both worlds. Broaden the horizon lol.

I agree to an extent, however carrying a bag/device in your hand can't ever be considered MORE convenient than a pocket. And the tab can fit in a lot of pockets as is. If anyone is putting the ipad in a pocket, you sir are the King of Pants!

I also think its funny that people think pinch/zoom is a negative. Are you guys saying you don't do that on the ipad? It's so easy to do anyway that it's a pointless argument.

Can't we all agree that there are uses for both sizes? Traveling with a 7 incher makes more sense to me. Sitting around the house with a 10 incher would be great.

Think of all the money I could save by killing my newpaper subscription! Oh wait, that's like 12 bucks a month.

It's a little bigger than a paper-back which makes it perfect for 1 hand or two. good size and shape.

You know, all this stuff about the Tab being too small is ridiculous. The problem is Apple had mind ****ed everyone into thinking that their huge and heavy iPad is the thing to get. It's really only useful if you are sitting on a couch. It's too big to hold with one hand, it's too big to put in your back pocket, it's too big to read books on, and too big to type on... the list goes on and on. 7" for the Tab is great, it's manageable, portable, goes anywhere, and light. Hell, it even has messaging and phone capabilites (except US).

With 7 million iPad's sold it's gonna be funny when the revolutionary iPad 2 comes out. The market is going to be flooded with so many iPad 1's that no one wants.

Don't forget that Apple will have a 7" version of the iPad 2, Steve jobs will speak of how magical it is and all the iSheep will swarm to buy it.

It sure makes it easier to sell things when you have a cultic following for your brand, eh?

Get over the iHate

The iPad is a fine device. The Galaxy Tab is a fine device. Who cares what someone else uses as long as you are happy?

As for me, I love my 10" G Tablet. :)

Not at all...I love walking in public being able to hide my tab in my pocket, or my notebook, unlike the ipad thats bigger and only fits in an obvious case or laptop bag that says kick my as+ and rob me!

I've had an ipad since release too, and I find myself using the tab more for compactness and ease then the ipad. Don't get me wrong, from time to time more real estate is nice but...

A more interesting question would be: did you consider the Samsung Tab and didn't buy because of size. I would be a "yes" on that poll. Of course, the folks that have the tab feel it is adequate. Duh.

To me, it wasn't a big enough increase in size over my Droid X to warrant the price. Nor am I interested in another data plan. I have a MiFi.

What is interesting to me is that, after almost two full days there are (so far) less than 40 respondents to this poll...

There will be a lot of 10 inch tablets in the next year that will soar in success. I dare say that there will be 12 and 14 inch tablets that will capture market share before 2011 is out.

At 10", I'd rather have a netbook, which I already do. It may look good on Criminal Minds, but it is not for me. I'd rather have the galaxy tab at 7". But at the end of the day, it's down to personal preference. What works for one does not work for another. I see there have also been arguments about ipad not fitting in the pocket. Even tab will not fit in my pocket for that matter (well it will but not so comfortably). So, if it wasn't so expensive, I would get a galaxy tab..and not just for its size.

I'm still getting used to my Tab. My wife got a new myTouch and took advantage of the BOGO at T-Mobile. I have big hands so the Tablet almost passes for a phone in my mits. I have a Droid X and love that phone. I LOVE the Android platform but find myself still using my Droid for alot of day to day duties.

If my wife didnt get me this tab i would have bought an iPad. The price of the tablet is OUTRAGIOUS, im just glad it was free cuz if my paid, it would be going right back.

But to answer the question, the 7" size is pretty good, but the browsing experience needs to be revamped. Constantly pinching to zoom the webpage in order to get the text to viewable size is annoying.

Cell phones are $500 off contract, this is $600 to $650 off contract. iPad 3G off contract starts at $650 too. Why is this so expensive again?

Instead of pinching and zooming, try double tapping, it works better :)

Because similar tablets have been shown to be cheaper.
The Viewsonic G tablet is $399. It has a Tegra 2 dual core processor but does not have a 3G modem. The modem doesn't cost $300.

The $250 Archos 70 is similar albeit, lower resolution.

While neither of these tablets directly compares feature for feature with the Galaxy tab, it does show that the Galaxy tab is priced with a large profit margin and higher than competition, thereby "expensive."

In all seriousness that G-Tablet is crap, software wise. I saw one at Office Depot and it ran so poorly you'd think it was freezing on you. While the G-Tablet does have great hardware, the OS can't utilize it properly. Maybe 2.3 will fix that, we don't know.

I paid $400 for my Tab, but I did get a data plan at $30 and in all seriousness it's kinda not worth it without data.

I barely touch my Nexus One since getting the Tab. Fits the bill perfectly for me but I did go from Dell Streak to the tab so going from a 5 inch device to a 7 incher does seem quite the upgrade. :)

It also fits in a back pocket. You wouldn't want to carry it around long that way, but you can get it out of the way that way for a bit when needed. That makes the form factor much more mobile than the ipad and is just the right size in that it's as large as it can be and still do that.
