I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 and a 1 TB Western Digital My Passport I would like to connect. I started with the OTG dongle that came with my Galaxy S7 but the HDD would unmount. My research showed that the problem was that the tablet was not providing enough power to the HDD. I bought an OTG Y cable that has a USB port (for HDD), a male mini USB (to tablet), and a female mini USB which I connect the tablet's charging cable to. I was told that this would power the HDD. However, I still have the unmounting problems I used to. Can anyone help me fix my problem?
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

I'm a little late to the game on this but I use a wireless FileHub to connect my Android and Apple iOS devices to a an external hard drive:

Works absolutely great. I stream movies from a 4TB HDD connected to it, save files to it, and use it to back up my camera's SD card contents to the HDD, all controlled from one of my devices (S2, S7 Edge, or Air 2 iPad).
