Galaxy watch 3 Lte text message issues .

I can't understand why my watch is able to make and receive calls if my phone (s20+) is turned off but is unable to send/receive text messages. Is anyone else having this issue? I have tried two separate network carriers and both have the same result when trying to send a text " connecting to phone remotely...if this takes to long try again " . I was under the impression that it should work for phone calls and messages . Thanks for any input

From my understanding is you can get calls with the phone off since the watch has its own number. It uses simultaneous ring so calls ring to the phone and to the watches number. For texts, email and other notifications the phone must be on and your watch 'connected remotely' through your phone. There isn't a way for them to forward your text messages from your phone to the watches number directly so it needs to go through your phone.
