Android Central Question
I've had the Galaxy Frontier S3 (smartwatch) for close to a year and I've loved it. The battery would last about 3-4 days without cutting back on many of its features. When I started using it and for many months the effect it had on my phone's (Note 8) battery was negligible. Mind you, I have both on nearly 24/7.
Sometime in July 2017 I received an update on my watch. It added a bunch of unnecessary graphics, some additional functionalities, and a dramatic increase in battery drain. It went from +/-72hrs to less than 24hrs of battery life. This is without making any changes to the settings. At this time, I didn't notice any changes on my phone.
Fastforward 3 or 4 weeks and another update came through which didn't get me back to the original battery life, but now allows about a day and a half or two days of use. Great, right? Well, right after that I noticed a dramatic dip on my phone's battery life. I now lose about 80% of my battery within 4 or 5 hours. My use of the phone has remained the same as before. Only now I need a charger nearby all the time. When I check to see what is draining my battery, I find that the Galaxy Wearable app is the culprit. Sometimes it accounts for over 50% of the battery drain between charges.
So here I go: HELP! does anyone know whether there's a patch for this, or a workaround? I haven't been able to find a way to roll back the updates, but I'd be open to that.
I have really become reliant of the combined use of phone and watch and would hate to have to give up the watch. I also find it ridiculous that over $1,000 of technology could be rendered useless as a result of "necessary" updates. Not to mention how suspicious it is for this to happen right when the new model of the Note rolls out.
Sorry for the long post, but I thought I'd offer as much info as possible to help others identify with my pain and, hopefully, get a solution to my issue.
