GalaxyS8Active screen is almost all white and black at top Display issue

[Android Central Question]

Put phone on charge to go to bed for night. Minutes later picked it back up to set my alarm. As normal I hit the home button to get to my unlock screen so I could go to CLOCKS. However when I hit the Home button (or any button for that matter), a white light appears covering nearly the entire screen, all but about an eighth of the top is black vaguely showing the normal home top left and my WiFi connection, battery percentage & Bluetooth on (icons) that appear very top right of screen. It’s all I can see. Tried the reset with Power button and vol down among trying to hit other buttons and nothing has worked. Can someone please help me without it costing me a lot of money or any at all

Welcome to Android Central! Did you already try forcing a shutdown by pressing and holding Power anf Vol Down for about 20 seconds?
