I have noticed in the last 2 weeks when I take a picture with the camera, the pictures will show up in the Gallery for a few minutes then disappear and in its place will be a gray box with a white triangle in it. The picture backs up fine to Google and I have a copy there but not in the Gallery app. Oddly, when I take screenshots, they remain in the screenshots section of the Gallery app. I've called HTC and the had me clear the cache, do a format of the SD card and now want me to do a factory reset. I really would prefer not to do the factory reset. Can anyone give me any suggestions. Thanks.

Are you storing your pictures on the SD Card? If so, your SD Card might be starting to fail (in which case, be grateful you're successfully syncing to Google :P). Try storing your pictures on the phone as a test. That gray box indicates a corrupted file. It's there, but the info is not 'legible'.

I just downloaded the Google Camera app and the pictures seem to be staying on the SD card. However, when I took pictures with the stock camera and changed to the Phone storage, them stayed on the phone. Several weeks ago I was using Pocket Casts which I've been using for years, started having issues saving to the SD card so I switched to Phone storage and it seems to be fine now. I just don't understand why it's working with Google Camera now.

It does sound like there are issues with your SD Card... do you have another one you could test out with the stock camera? I just want to see if it's the card itself or if it's the phone or app related (you say Google's Camera files seem to stick... are you sure they're on the SD Card? ).

You were right. It was a SD card issue. SanDisk is sending me a replacement. Thanks for your help.

Glad you got it sorted, and I do hope you didn't lose any pictures. I once lost half of my trip thanks to a faulty SD card and no Internet to back up the pictures while on the mountains :'(
