Gallery has disappeared from my Samsung Galaxy Note 3

device seemed to self install lollipop and kitkat one night, two weeks later gallery disappeared, I cannot locate it in application manager

Welcome to Android Central! I'm assuming you mean that it updated to Lollipop. What's the Android version number, in Settings>About Phone>Android Version?

If you no longer see Gallery, it might be defaulting to the Google Photos app now.
