gallery shows .nomedia images

Has anyone had luck getting the stock gallery to not find movies or images placed in a folder with a .nomedia file? Quickpic will ignore "hidden" images but the gallery still finds them. Anyone experiencing the same strangeness?

i've also noticed that studiokuma's nomedia manager cannot find the external or "removable" storage on the TF. i manually created the .nomedia files and added them to two folders on my external cd card. quickpic recognizes these as hidden folders, but the stock gallery still finds them, ignoring the .nomedia file. studiokuma's app can't even find the removable storage. wtf!?

Same problem on the Slider, so not Transformer specific.
