Question Gallery subfolders....

When trying to attach photos in apps on samsung galaxy a54 I cannot see the majority of subfolders in photo gallery. This change occurred suddenly 2 days ago.

Welcome to Android Central forums. Just a couple of questions.

Are you using Samsung Gallery or Google Photos to share these photos?

When you touch Albums in the Gallery or Collections in Photos, what happens now?

Are you sharing these photos inside of another app, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest or is this happening when you open the Gallery or Photos app?

Have you tried sharing directly from the Gallery or Photos app, or if you are, have you tried sharing from the other app? What is the result of that?

Are you still able to see the photos? Are you able to click on them to make them full screen/larger?

What have you tried?


Without answers my first thought would be to have you clear the cache to whatever app is not allowing you to share these photos. If you are sharing directly from the Photos app, then clear the cache for Photos. If you are sharing inside of Facebook, clear the cache for Facebook. To clear the cache, open Settings>Apps>(the app you're having issue with)>Storage>Clear cache>force stop the app and try again.

My next thought would be to have you open the Files app. Navigate to the photos you would like to share and attempt to share it from the Files app. What is the result?

I know it is a lot of questions but we're really guessing without the answers. In your reply it might also be helpful if you describe your process. i.e. I'm in Facebook, I touch the +, I choose Post, then choose Photo/video, and xyz happens.

Let us know what you find.

1. I am using Samsung Gallery
2. In Gallery all subfolders are visible
3. I can share direct from Gallery
4. The photos are all working fine
5. I have tried numerous apps and the issue is the same, both before and after clearing cache.
6. For example in WhatsApp I want to add a photo to a conversation using paper clip on the conversation, then select Gallery and the subfolder options are listed, but only a few are shown.

I am at loss as this has only just happened

In WhatsApp when you tap paperclip then gallery if you tap the word "Recent " it should give you more selections

Try clearing cache and force stop WhatsApp and if still sane reset WhatsApp but back it up first then clear Data
