Galxy S6 Edge: Very disappointing :(

Oh...just about everything you can do. I've had my S6 for 2 months now...Google Now is off, location services is off, most Google services synching off, haptic feedback off, widgets all removed at this point, brightness way down, many apps disabled, NFC is off, all edge services are off, all motion services disabled, WiFi calling is disabled, VoLTE is disabled, etc.

Truly wondering what the point of having an Android phone is at this point if you have to do all these things only to still have horrendous battery life. Be grateful for your battery life - even with your pretty big drop, it's still definitely more than acceptable. I'd give anything for that!

Have you spoke to samsung? I honestly believe that your phone is defective! If you make all the tweaks you made to a phone and you cannot get past 2-3 hours screen on time then there is something wrong with the phone! Thats just my opinion! My sister has a 3yr old s3 with better battery life then that

Yes - both T-Mobile and Samsung. They both said they were aware of the issue and hope to have a fix shortly...that was over a month ago. They said it's not a hardware problem and I agree - there is a thread of people like me who returned their S6's only to have the same problem again and I don't want to take the chance or I may be trading one problem for another - my home button is solid, my screen pixels are great and my screen rotation works so I don't want to take the chance since there are so many various problems the S6 can have.

Reading this forum and the S6 forum shows there are tons of people on many carriers with the same issue. My WiFi radio is always running despite so many things being shut down. I've been hanging in patiently (though growing less patient by the day!) for the fix but you are right, it is really frustrating and makes me think of my days with the HTC Thunderbolt (the first LTE phone) which was probably even worse, but not by too much!

My cell standby is high when WiFi is on, but I'm still able to get 5 to 6 hours of screen on time. Lollipop issue I think. Other phones are seeing it too.

Wow, that is a real shame that you have to disable so many features. I love the S6E in terms of its look, so I actually came back to it after reverting to my Note 4, but now I will need to return my 2nd S6E, this time a 128gb, later this week cuz as a power user, I can't sacrifice all the amazing features for a better battery life. So I will go back to my Note 4 and use my spare battery to get me through the day. Plus, I can do so much more on my Note 4.

I too am a little disappointed lately. Not so long ago i was boasting about getting 8h30mins screen on time (and had the screenshots to prove it) Suddenly iam lucky if i get 6hours which to be fair is not bad, its decent but iam annoyed because i was getting 7-8 hours easily before! The only difference lately is that i upped my brightness from 20% to 40% although i now have location off where as before it was always on! I also aint using my phone for long periods at a time where as before i was so my "device idle" time is more now!

Before when i got to 50% i would have 4h30mins screen on time, now iam currently at 56% with only 2h22mins screen on time although device idle and cell standby are the second biggest battery drainers now with screen being the highest.

Is there something goin on here or did upping the brightness from 20% to 40% cause me to lose out on 2 hours screen on time despite location now being off ?

I've never had more than 6 hrs SOT from any smartphone.

The battery issues are Lollipop, but to each their own. I only turned off VoLTE and now make it all day without a charge. This is with WiFi, BT, NFC, and location all on.

The unfortunate thing is that ANYTIME you purchase a Samsung phone you will in FACT have issues in the long run. Samsung manufactures a very poor product as software lags and snags are bound to happen. To purchase this phone with a non-removable battery is the worse decision one can make. It is almost guaranteed that the battery will lose it's capacity within 2 months of use. And only a fool would believe that ANY phone on the market gets 8 hours of "on screen" time. Thats just a flat out LIE!
Sorry my friends about your purchase..The best thing you can do is try to sell that piece of garbage and try the lg4

Ha, calling it garbage is way over the top, but I do agree with you about the non-removable battery issue. Until battery technology improves drastically, I think ALL phones should have a removable back.

While I would prefer a removable battery, fewer phones have it and a majority of consumers don't care about it.

Maybe consumers don't care about it because they don't know about it? For me, I didn't really know and appreciate it until I read some posts here on the 50% off accessory of the Note 4, so I got 2 replaceable batteries. I don't think any makers really market the convenience of the replaceable battery feature. I know too many people adjusting their phone setting to accomodate for more power, hence limiting their use of features on their phones. Some makers even claim best optimization, yet many users still can't escape the "wall hugger" pattern.

Really? You're complaining about that? I'm lucky if I get 3 hours SoT a day on my S6. I'd welcome the five hours of SoT at this point.

I get maybe 2hours sot. Auto brightness and battery saving location and not that many apps either. Terrrrrrrrrrible

If you phone is behaving badly, I always suggest starting out clean, and adding apps one at a time until you figure out who the culprit is. Its very likley its something in the background sucking up the resources.

Most don't say 8 hour screen on time but there are people who get 6 hours average screen on time from a variety of phones. Two members on my team are an example of this... A Nexus 6 and a Note 4. Wanting good battery isn't a flaw of just Samsung as other phones have struggled in the past as well.

Actually phone batteries are the one technology that hasn't had a major breakthrough in a while (in terms of long lasting batteries).

The problem IMO is the rush to make phones thinner. Make my phone 2mm thicker for added battery and that would feel like a breakthrough.

True but there are other people on the side of "making it thinner!". It is a lose-lose situation for them.

WELL GREAT NEWS! It seems like the s6 edge I had was 1 of the many just plagued with issues. So T-Mobile had Samsuns send me a brand new one! Not refurbished, but brand new everything! I have been using it for the past week and it has been a gem! So happy customer here.

I've had my first phone have the auto rotate issue got a new one that worked beautiful until the camera went to [language removed by mod] especially the front, then fit a like new warranty one yesterday with a dead pixels on screen getting my 4th phone in the mail today but they were all fast gorgeous besides the problems on each
