Game sounds while on a call?

So I am playing boom beach at work with the volume all the way to off. I answer a phone call and all of a sudden the boom beach music is playing on top of the call! This is really aggravating, especially if it was a really important call. Is there a setting somewhere to turn this off?

Does it happen with any other apps? I think that's mostly the app itself. I remember that I had the same issue with Spotify at one time. It updated, and then every time I got a call, the music would still be playing in the background. They updated the app again the next day, and the issue was gone.

I am having the same problem with Boom Beach (and other apps too). If a call comes in while I am playing boom beach, the games audio continues over the call.. the person calling can't hear it, but I sure can. Can't figure out how to stop it.

Running a Moto X, 2nd Gen with the latest 5.1 updates.

Also having the same problem with:
Waze - if navigating
Google Maps - if navigating

Not having the problem with Spotify.
