Garbage Collection

Did a search of the forums, nothing came up. Does any body know how Android handles garbage collection? I should say how well it handles it. Also, is there an app or .apk some where, similar to Jstop for webOS, that will allow us to handle it manually or more agressively? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks to all.

All I've got to tell you is that Dalvik does not handle garbage collection well.
