I recently got a Droid X2. It is my first smart phone and I want to find out as much as I can about it. I like the phone a lot but the biggest problem that I have is battery life.

Welcome to Android Central and the Android community :)

I'm not very familiar with the Droid X2, but like any Android device if your running stock most battery life is stolen from garbage bloatware running in the background along with useless processes. Stay away from 3rd party task killers, they do more harm than good. Best is to stick with your built in task killer with Android and shut things down manually that you don't use. Always make sure you "back out" of a application to close it instead of simply hitting HOME which leaves many apps running in the background.

Your best option to obtain better battery is consider rooting your device and trying some custom kernels and ROM combinations which greatly improves overall performance and battery life in most cases. This is an option and not a must, but is your best solution to getting your best battery life.

Note: Check your email apps and anything that "Polls" a server frequently for updates like email or Google +, FB, Twitter, etc... the more frequent your polling well you know ... the more battery your eating up too...

Just some helpful tips..... Hopefully you will find a sweet spot that helps your overall battery life issue.
