Gboard search functioning on its own, despite me turning it off

So anytime I type, and I notice this more on Facebook Messenger, as I type in key words, the Google search bar on my Gboard rolls out from the left side and tells me to search for it.

Now, I've always turned every bit of auto-search off for Gboard. So something in a recent update somewhere has to be causing this weird thing.

So why it does this on Facebook Messenger (again, where I notice it the most), I don't know. Not sure what setting where is causing this, or what setting was broken. And, of course, I can't get it to replicate to take a screenshot, regardless of where I am typing. (EDIT: It happened, and I got it in time. Picture attached.)

Any thoughts?
