Hello Android Central,

My name is Josh and I'm looking to buy a new phone in the future, I currently own a iPhone 4s that is broken :(. I am wondering what you guys think of the HTC Desire 300?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums.
I have no knowledge of that device.
When are thinking of getting it?
Are you on a budget?
What carrier do you have?

Welcome to the forums! The Desire 300 is a mid level device. Since you are coming from a 4S it should be a better experience. What carrier are you on and will you be purchasing a device off contract? There are definitely better alternatives to the Desired 300.

Welcome to Android Central! Agree with above, and I'd even say it's an entry-level phone, rather than a mid-level. Downsides to consider about the Desire 300:

1. No 4G
2. Only 512 MB system RAM, which is very low these days. It means fewer apps can remain open in memory, which means slower app opening and switching.
3. 4 GB of storage ROM means probably about 1 GB (or even less) available to you, since a good portion of that will be taken up by the OS and Blinkfeed (and other bloatware). This means not much room for you to install apps. You can't install apps onto a microSD card.
4. Very low resolution of 800x480.

You can probably do much better, but as mentioned above, it depends on your budget and the availability where you are. Is the Moto G available there? That's the best value out there right now.

Welcome to Android Central :)
I second B. Diddy's pick of the Moto G

I would also recommend the Moto G, assuming both were the same price in your area. Moto G is better in virtually every regard. I don't know where you are, but on my carrier (Verizon, the Moto G is $100 no contract. But I know that the unlocked version runs a bit more.

Absolutely, my note 3 has 32gb and I am down to about 5gb internal. I put most media on the external sd already. 8gb internal is probably closer to 5gb usable?

Welcome to AC. Yes, get the Moto G 16GB because I guarantee you those so called "8GB" of space on the cheapest version will run out quick!

This. 8 GB, or less once partitioned, is nkt much.
