Gear Fit 2 Shortcomings

Hi,

Got my Fit2 in June and for some reason suddenly it is saying I do floors when I have not, sometimes even breaking records on old floor counts I actually did.

Floors counting is generally unreliable, there are just too many reasons for it, so just let it go...

The Gear Fit 2 is a beautiful design and the Notification features are amazing...big upgrade from basic FitBit feature wise.
NOW the BAD NEWS...
- Step Count is so off!
I have ran/walked/climbed stairs/elliptical work...All are about 1/2 of what Fitbit would record count-wise. This is extremely disheartening for such a beautiful device with lots of positives...
The main reason I have it is to keep track of my activity....I have resound to just double my counts...Ex: I Run/Speed Walk for an Hour daily and my usual step count from just this exercise period would count as 8,000 to 9000 on my Fitbit. On my GEAR Fit 2...4800. So I have learned to add 4000 steps to my end of the day count. Hope they get the software up to speed...But this one issue won't make me go back to Fitbit....I will just want friends or prospective GEAR Fit2 customers know about this flaw....It might be a bigger deal for others

Way are you taking fitbit by default as accurate? I compared GF2 with Garmin, and found again like 35-40% difference in step count in favor of Garmin. The real step count was somewhere between if you count it manually, even closer to what GF2 shows...at least by mine experience...

I personally found the Fit2 to significantly OVER count my steps. I would go to my master bedroom bathroom from my bed (maybe 10 steps there and back) and it would consistently count 300 steps (!). Overall, compared to my Microsoft Band 2 and current Asus Zenwatch 3, the Fit2 regularly counted about twice as many steps. Where I usually walk around 6000 steps in a regular day, the Fit2 would show me at well over 10,000.

That should be SW issue, try to update GF2 firmware to the latest one...

I switched to a Fit2 when I got frustrated reading Fitbit lights, then at exactly 13 months, no lights, nothing. So I bought a Moto360 which is fun to wear. I've sent texts through it. It's fun to say "Hey Google." Then I got frustrated cause it said I did yoga in Google Fit, instead of run intervals. Then it couldn't pick up treadmill miles (gets cold in January to run outside.)

So I bought a GearFit2. I've had it for a few days. It does pick up treadmill miles. I couple it with Life sum ap, and last night, I went indoor skydiving. I removed it for indoor skydiving, which burns a lot of calories. I added the calories burned exercise in Life sum, and it synced with Samsung fit. I don't like My Fitness Pal at all. I do like the partnered aps. They work. As for basic Fitbit (deciphering lights isn't my thing) I would never buy another one. I couldn't figure out how to add exercises not listed.

I guess we need the partner ap to add unlisted exercises? Other than that, I'm pleased. I did buy the rubber stoppers for the band. They work well. I've had it loosen up at night during sleep. I also ordered a screen protector I'll put on it tonight,

2. Was able to sync with MyFitnessPal thru Withings Healthmate.

Can you elaborate on how you did this? MFP doesn't seem to want to sync with my gear fit 2 or s health at all.

Just got a Gear Fit 2... here are my shortcomings...

Having problems connecting multiple BT devices to my Pixel XL and Gear Fit 2. If a smartwatch is designed to have a constant link to your phone, then shouldn't your BT headphones still work? Your car BT connection? Your Bose speaker? I'm having lots of problem keeping all these connected and seamless.

Also, I did do a test step... I ran 6 apps and compared them all. The Gear Fit 2 and the S Health app were the most accurate. I completed 644 steps... my Gear Fit 2 logged 628 and the S Health app logged 634. So it's pretty accurate in my opinion. However, I did get in my car and the watch thought I was biking for some reason.
