Gear fit2 distance wildly inaccurate

Tracked a run using the gear fit 2. Ran a known route and by the time I got to 1 mile it was showing 0.6 miles. Started the run over and it did the same thing.

I have my phone with me anyways. Is there a way to have the watch use the GPS on the phone? Or is there a way to run everything on the phone and just have the fit2 be a "dumb" display?

Really all I want on my wrist is a timer and heartbeat. I'm happy to let the phone record the distance and route.

So my solution is start the run on my watch then swipe left. I get time + heart beat.

I also run strava on my phone for accurate distance and pace, which I was using for my runs anyways.

I don't sync shealth to strava to prevent duplicate entries.

Went for my 4th run with it, it was suddenly dead on accurate. Very strange.

I did a 2 mile walk and it accurately recorded distance and showed me a map of it as well.
