Gear Live Ordered!

Ordered my Gear Live yesterday night at around 6PM CST... Google told me it wouldn't leave warehouse until tomorrow. I payed for next day shipping... it's already on the truck for delivery. WOO! Day is made.

I have been spending numerous amount of hours online trying to Google whether the new Samsung Gear Live can make and receive calls when its connected to the phone.

Sadly no you can't use it like a phone... It doesn't have a built in speaker.

The only thing it does is show you the caller. If you pick up on the watch, you have to put the phone to your ear (or use speakerphone or earpiece) to talk.

You can send sms and email from the watch though. The voice dictation is excellent.

One thing I like is when you send or receive a hangout (sms or chat) on the watch, the entire conversation history for that contact is transferred to the watch and can be reviewed.

One thing I don't like is when you set an alarm on the watch it only pertains to the watch. This means that the watch vibrates only to notify you. The phone is not involved and there is no audible notification.

Okay...finally got my Gear in today. Definitely not as big as I thought it would be, which is good.

Question: When the sound is on on my phone, the other thing that vibrates coming through my watch is Plume (twitter). When I put my phone on vibrate, everything that comes through vibrates on the watch...is this right??

Didn't see any setting at all to have all incoming traffic vibrate on the watch.

I ordered my Samsung Gear Live on Google Play on July 3 with confirmed shipment from their warehouse on July 18.There is no sign of the watch nor any mail from them on the delay.Finally, yesterday I mailed their customer service and they gave a lame excuse that all the Samsung shipment was stuck with Indian customs and they have no idea when they will ship.There are millions of Samsung products sold in India but this is the first time I heard of an excuse like this.

Phil did a tutorial on how to blacklist apps from sending notifications to your watch. There is also a setting in the wear app to send alerts to the phone and watch or watch only. To silence alerts on your watch swipe down from the top to mute.

Notes are sent/stored on Google Keep.

To view Reminders go to Google Now>scroll down to the bottom >click the little hand with the string tied to the finger
