Gear Manager on non-Samsung phone?

I have tried Pebble, Android Wear and the Gear 2, and the Gear 2 reigns supreme as my favorite.

However I plan on picking up the new Droid Turbo.

I saw on XDA some people had gotten Gear Manager to work on non-Samsung phones. I assume the Gear 2 only needs Gear Manager to work correctly?

Has anyone gotten this to work?

I've not tried this, so use at your own risk. I have a Note 3, so I've not had to attempt any workaround.

Read all the threads on XDA - it works but not all of the functions - had Gear 1 and now 360 and agree Samsung is still ahead - I switched for the look of 360

that's why I tried the LG G Wear, thought it looked better. hated Android Wear. I ended up buying a refurb Gear 2 Neo that is all black. Ordered a metal band for it too
