Gear Manager Update, Firmware Update???

Are these one and the same, or are there two different updates for the Gear?

Gear Manager is the app on the phone that controls the gear. The firmware is the software on the watch that actually runs the watch. Firmware updates are accessed from inside the gear manager app.
