Gear S Without Samsung Phone

AWESOME! Just did this with my AT&T phone and it deleted the entire contact list that was accidently loaded by the AT&T rep when he set this up originally as a standalone device for me (being used as my only cell phone) with one SIM card and phone number ported over from another carrier.

KUDOS to you -rellimllc- for posting this!!!

My guess is this will allow others to just swap the SIM card out of their phone and into the Gear S to turn the Gear S into a phone with their single SIM card phone number. Will someone please try this and post up the result? Thanks.

What are the benefits for using it without a phone

The topic is not about use it standalone but use it without a Samsung phone. There is no advantage either way but not every one has a Samsung phone. But by default, Gear Manager only works on Samsung phones.

About 1/2 the monthly cost! (In my case $30/mo. total for Gear & Samsung phone) And no candy bar in your pocket. Not a bad savings and you can still use the Gear and phone together linked by BT if you want just like the prior gear.

Example: At AT&T and T-Mobile you are required to have a $45-$50/mo. SIM in your V4.3 phone and $5-$10/mo. for the Gear; a total of $50-$60/mo.

Using this Reset setup procedure with Your contact list loaded onto your SIM card will load the contact list onto the Gear S. Sweet!
