Hi,

I have my S2 for a few days now and I have always on enabled.
However I noticed that the screen still turns off, I have not been able to pinpoint how/when yet though. I just look at my watch and the screen is off.
Anyone experiencing or knows about this?

I notice it too and I haven't connected it to anything except it happens when I'm not moving for some period of time.

Yup, turns off if you don't move for what I think is as little as 30 minutes. Saves battery, but don't love it doing this.

FWIW, I've found that if you remove the watch from your arm and just set it down (not on the charger) the screen turns off within a few seconds. I think it's relying on the heart rate sensor to know that you're either not wearing it or you've died, in which case you don't need any more info from it.

acw, I read somewhere that the accelerometer is detecting it.

I believe always on doesn't mean you're watch screen will stay on all the time. Its for some watch faces that come with ambient mode (a main watch face and a saving power dim watch face). If you have your watch in the look position of one of these faces, you will see the third hand moving, then it dims to ambient mode, where you will only see 2 hands with the third one gone. The ambient mode will stay on in the look position on the Gear S2 as long you have it in the look position. Once you place it on your side the screen will turn off. On some watches, like the LG Urbane second edition, the ambient mode will stay on, no matter what position its in.

Hey,
Just install 'I am alive' app - it makes the watch's face to be highlighted all the time, no matter what.

People really need to stop recommending that. Burn-in is a real thing with AMOLED displays.

Just check any always on watchface. Every minute it flashes and shifts position to avoid burn in.

That really sucks

According to a Korean Gear S2 developer I've been talking to, the real reason why the always on mode still turns off the display is b/c of Samsung's marketing department. In order to continue marketing that the Gear S2 has double the battery life of an Apple Watch, the screen is turned off after a while even in Always-On mode.

Makes sense? Yes. Good for us consumers? No!

This is why I generally dislike any marketing and salespeople.

I have my S2 set to always on. Is there a way to turn the screen off? I tried the palm touching technique, which doesn't work...
