I saw an article in march that a gear s3 classic lte version was coming to Verizon. Is there anymore release info on this? Also seems weird to release it so late. At this point is there any point of getting an s3? I could just get the WiFi version but is there an s4 coming out soon or any other better smartwatch?

I personally need the LTE version. For me it comes in handy alot. The fact they don't have it at all is just plain stupid. I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I am searching everyday for news and nothing.

On T-Mobile not Verizon, but I just upgraded from the S2 Classic to the S3 Frontier with LTE.

At that point they had not announced the S3 Classic with LTE, or I might have waited.

However to your question, the S3 is by Far the best watch out right now.

I have had the Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, LG G Watch, Moto 360, Pebble, and Pebble Time.

S2 crushed all of them, and the S3 is definitely better than the S2.

You could just do the non-LTE one. I thought about it. And so far I have only legitimately used the phone number on the watch one time. I tested it to make sure it worked of course.

The legit use was when my phone (LG V20) locked up due to a bad theme. I was able to use my watch to text my wife.

I would have survived without that of course.

I figured even if I never used it, i am still glad I do have the option. What if I drop my phone and it breaks, or I accidentally lock myself out of the house without my phone.

I pretty much always have the watch on, so I can use it if needed

Yeah I was thinking I probably wouldn't use the watch alone very often but would have been nice to get it with device payments. The articles were in March about Verizon finally getting it and now there is no info. Strange.
My other concerns are it doesn't have as many apps as android wear and that it also is already months old. Will a new version be coming out soon or some other good watch? I guess you are right thought it does seem to be the best option right now.

I never understood that apps complaint.

A smartwatch is not a smartphone, you aren't going to want to initiate a lot of stuff from the actual watch.

The benefits of the smartwatch are working with notifications. Basic stuff like checking text and email, any watch can do. The S3 allows you to actually answer and initiate calls. I can play, pause, skip tracks, and adjust the volume of music. I can check my calendar and the weather.

And a phone app doesn't need a smartwatch app to work with notifications properly. For example, Wunderlist does not have a Smartwatch app. However when my Wunderlist notification comes in I can read, snooze, or complete the task all from my S3 Frontier

That is great to know. Thank you! Yeah that wasn't my complaint just repeating what I saw on a YouTube video review. Also there was something about gmail not working on the watch?
It is just weird they anounced the lte version but have yet to release it. Maybe they won't at this point.
I'll probably end up getting the classic

My Gmail works fine, I can read an email from the notification. Once I open it,I can archive, delete, etc

Now you can only do that when you receive an email. Basically as long as you have an unread notification.

You can't just open Gmail from the watch and search your inbox and so that, but why would you want to

Yeah I ended up getting the classic. The Verizon LTE classic Version was announce a month ago or so and still nothing. So far I really like it but it has only been a couple of days. I have the S8+ coming tomorrow so we will see how it works with that. The only ever smartwatch I have used was the huawei watch but I had it for a month and sent it back. Android wear was too buggy and would freeze and restart all the time. Maybe android wear 2.0 is better but I really like the gear s3 so far and the screen is better!

I had the LG G Watch and the Moto 360, and I dont see how anyone can use Android Wear and try a S2 or S3 and not see that clearly Samsung wins
