Gear Sport Vibration Weak?

I have been wearing my gear sport for about a week. I often miss notifications even though I have the vibration turned up to "high". My previous watch was a Pebble Time which gives a strong vibration so maybe my nervous system needs to be retrained. I don't miss phone calls because the vibration repeats until answered but notifications only give a one-time buzz which I often miss.

What are other's experiences? Perhaps I got a bad unit. Anyone have also have a Pebble Time to compare with?

Thanks.

David

Hi David,

Agreed, the vibration is quite weak even at the highest level. For the most part, I do feel the vibration when I'm not doing any activities and my arms are at rest, but easy to miss when I'm physically doing something.

Also, sometimes, notifications do not come through to the watch, not sure if it's because I'm looking at the phone already when messages arrive, hence it won't notify the watch, or something else. Have you seen this?

I also had the issue with notifications not coming through. I changed the setting in the phone app to “show while using phone”and I think that helped even in instances when I am not looking at my phone.

I agree, the vibration is too weak. Maybe this is something they can tweak via a firmware update. I had two different Pebbles in the past and they were much stronger.

I wonder how it compares to the Gear 3 (the vibration intensity)?

FYI. I was within the 15-day return period at Best Busy so brought my sport back to exchange for another unit. This one seems a little better but I need to test it out to see how many notifications I miss. Still not nearly as strong as my pebble time.

While I was there, one of the employees had an S3 so I played with the vibration intensity. The S3 seemed to be have a stronger vibration intensity than the sport (although still less than my pebble time).

Yeah, the vibration is a lot weaker than I would prefer. Really, this is the only negative that I have discovered about the watch. My Pebble had a much higher level of vibration, and I believe that was something that was increased by Pebble through a firmware update, so hopefully Samsung can do the same.

New Gear Sport update today seems to have fixed the weaker than normal vibration. Feels strong and more noticeable now.

Is there an option to change the vibration pattern for notifications?
