Gear VR: I am diggin' it!

If you use the surround shot mode of your camera it will store it in the gallery then load your phone in the vr and relive those vacation photos like never before just be sure and fill the whole little ball up when taking the pic

Where is this setting? Do you need to hook up the VR gear first?

I'm struggling with mine a little - I wear varifocal glasses and just can't seem to find the sweet-spot where everything is in focus. I've tried not wearing them but I run out out adjustment on the wheel just before it all comes into focus. If I wear my glasses I still struggle to get focus because my glasses are pushed right up close onto my face... after a short while my glasses steam up too...

Anyone in a similar position who has found a solution?

These wipes helped me with fogging issues. I just use the wipes and then give the lenses a light polish with my microfiber.

I kind of want to buy a 360 video camera now. It would be cool to watch home videos in 360 view through the VR. Or to relive life moments through virtual reality.

vr seems good ..but can it a be a really helpful device in day to day life ?

On a long-haul flight it certainly can. Provided you bring a charger or a battery bank, as it completely kills battery life

Where do you find your gallery in oculus I looked everywhere, and can we uninstall directly from the oculus menu?

In the camera app under mode. if it isn't already there just tap more and download it for free. I didn't have to hook up to vr gear first the mode was in my camera already and I wanted to know what it was so I took a picture with it then thought wonder if this has to do with the vr plugged it in and hey happy coincidence

I can't post links yet, but you have to create a specific file path that will tell Oculus Cinema to offer the movie in 3D.

SD Card support is coming soon for the S7/7E, but for now the movie file needs to be saved on device:

DCIM > Movies > Oculus > Movies > 3D [File]

Then when you load up Oculus Video, you can choose from a list of "My Videos" and if the file is HSBS/SBS or Blu-ray 3D, it will automatically play in 3D.

I've watched Jurassic World and In The Heart Of The Sea like this and both were very enjoyable. When they get the resolution increased in the coming years, it's going to be ...unreal.

And what about dual shot that shoots from front and rear is it similar to the 360 camera can we some sort of 360 video we can view with the headset?

My my two boys 8 and 5 really dig the ocean experience. Every night they're asking me to do it. lol

Doesn't it say that you should let kids under a certain age use the VR? I think it's like 13 years of age or something. Because their eyes are still developing at such a young age?

Thanks for the suggestions for using the Gear VR with glasses. It's a shame as it feels like it's just coming into focus (when I'm not wearing them) when I run out of adjustment on the wheel.

Will see if those wipes help with the fogging problem.

I limit them to 2 minutes. They only like the underwater experience. I would never let them watch Netflix using it.

Started with my Gear VR today.

Some scenes where I am in mid air made me feel sick even though I don't suffer from vertigo.

Porn is just different. Thought I was going to get my eye poked out there! Puts a different spin on things.

Some of the 360 examples are just amazing.

Can't get the focus exactly right as I am short sighted so it hurts my eyes after about 15 minutes.

So it's an experience that I'll dabble with from time to time.

Would not have bought it at £90.

Yes it could be an awesome device to watch 3D films on if the resolution was better.

But for now they need to add really strong 3D films such as A Turtles Tale, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and the Jurassic Park conversion - so we can get an idea of just how good the 3D pop out is in the virtual theatre

I found out by accident that you can play video files stored anywhere on the SD card. The location does not matter.

All you need to do is find the files using the VR Gallery app and you can play it from there. The player defaults to 2D but got can readily change that once it's started playing to 3D by pressing the centre button on the gear and selecting 3D as the playback option. Works for me so we don't have to put all of those files on internal storage.
