Gear VR - SLOW & LAGGY on Samsung Edge Plus

I recently bought a Samsung Gear VR on amazon. First time in trying, I immediately noticed how buggy/laggy it was. Starting from the tutorials to the pictures, videos, ocular cinema, generally everything. Every movement I do has at least a 3 seconds delay. I tried factory resetting it and reinstalling it but to no effect - same result. Also I would like to mention the quality was somewhat smudgy or blurry. I made sure all plastic cover to the lenses were taken off and tried different position with the gear vr just to find that sweet spot.

Anybody can help me with this and how to resolve this issue?

Here is my mobile phone details, I just bought it on Nov 2015 so that makes me think what is really causing this problem.

Arter97 kernel does not work with GearVR. Use another one or go back to stock. I use the stock modified kernel from XDA, and that one solves both the wakelock issue I had and works with GearVR.
