not sure what section to post this, but since i have an atrix figured i'd post it here, and this is just a curious question. With all the gps app options and things you can do, let's say you want to go hiking, you turn everything off, but gps just for navigation. How long would the battery last, in general. Just curious with as fast as the phones are moving fast, how long the battery would hold up to..a garmin for example. Just curious..not a big deal, but planning a alaska trip and in planning routes was just curious..thanks

For some reason the GPS on phones is a battery killer even with everything else turned off. I own a 60CSx and a set of batteries will last forever in it...

Normally the screen is your largest battery drain, and the GPS keeps the screen on, not to mention using it outside you need the brightness turned all the way up... Even if the GPS wasn't a battery-hog on its own, I wouldn't expect much life out of it. Oh, also, can't put it in airplane mode 'cause you need your data on to load the maps. But dude, give it a whirl some weekend; put it in airplane mode and fire up the GPS while your at home and let us know how long the battery lasts. Yay science!

Thanks guys...I'll have to see if I can get away with that sometime and try it, i see the display does have quite an affect on the battery, thanks for the feedback :)
