General Device Question

Been a Big Red customer since 1989, currently packing a 27 month old Storm 1 whose battery is starting to fail, almost pulled the trigger on the TBolt but decided not to because of the battery issues, and now patiently awaiting the DBionic.

Q? are there any other LTE droid devices you would consider that will be available over the next 2-3 months?

Not one I'd consider, but ... the Samsung Droid Charge (formerly known as the Samsung Stealth formerly known as the Samsung LTE Phone) is rumored to be available Apr. 7. I would suspect that the LG Revolution would be out shortly after the Bionic. All in all, there should be 3 phones released in the next few months -- Samsung Charge, Bionic, and Revolution.

I am in the same boat I have my wife's Storm 1. Rebooting at least 3 to 4 times a day.
Although I want the Bionic. I have been watching the Galaxy S2
These are some of the features and I do not know when it will be released. The only thing that is holding me back is The are very slow with getting updates for the phone and with some instances some people got stuck with their phone and did not get an upgrade.

Im hearing talk of a vinila android device from Motorola (?) on Verizon. Possibly a Nexus3. But, who knows for sure, and when/if this this will ever be announced.

The Charge looks great , the Revolution sounds great but the Bionic still seems to beat them both.

it looks like Galaxy S2 is GSM (att) so would not be VZ. Deal Breaker for me. I am stationed where VZ is the powerhouse and everything else is garbage so can't really deviate from VZ. So far only thing I see in my future is Bionic. The other 3 LTE phones coming out any time soon just don't have the specs for me and I need to dump this Storm 2 I have soon. Getting tired of the restarts and freezing.

You just don't power a large SUV with a 4 cylinder gas engine. The battery on the Droid Charge is bigger (1650 mAh vs 1400) but how much of a difference does that make? I hear Samsung has better battery utilization. Is that true?

I don't have any firsthand knowledge of how Samsung might be better than HTC as far as battery utilization. But, I do see a lot more conversation on how bad HTC is with their battery life (see DInc and Thunderbolt for example). I haven't seen the same with the Samsung Fascinate. Might want to peruse through the Samsung forums and see if there's discussion there about it.

The LG revolution is basically the thunderbolt made by LG. Unsure about the Samsung phone, but if you passed on the thunderbolt you should probably wait for the bionic.

Motorola's has a Battery Manager to help with the Battery life. DX usually last up to 9 hrs with heavy use. Now it last even longer now that my wife has it an does not use it as much. She will charge it every 2 days. With just phone and browser use.

with the newly available Verizon road map i see 3+ new LTE driods becoming available before the Bionic.

Does anyone have any insight on how they would stack up against the Bionic?

I don't know about that. I don't have the specs in front of me but I know that the LG is way more stock Android (ish) than the Sense-laden Thunderbolt for one. The LG can do VoLTE calling in 4g where the Thunderbolt can't as far as I know. There are probably other differences as well, but I don't have any specs right now.

No, they also list the LG Revolution and Samsung Charge (and have them coming before the Bionic), as well as the Bionic, DX2, and Inc. 2. But, I think the roadmap is junk. Too many things that are very suspect.

There are probably other differences as well, but I don't have any specs right now.

There is also speculation about the web that the LG will be one of the first to get Netflix, if any do.

Yes, I sure hope VoLTE is everything they claim it will be, but from what I've heard it only works (logically!) when both parties are using VoLTE-capable phones, which in the near-term is going to make "hi fi" phone calls a pretty rare occurence for most folks.

Has anyone heard anything about the Bionic being VoLTE capable?
