General Device Question

I too am with VZ, and need to stay with them. For me, the deal breaker is the battery. I was very excited about the Thunderbolt until the battery issues came out. You just don't power a large SUV with a 4 cylinder gas engine. The battery on the Droid Charge is bigger (1650 mAh vs 1400) but how much of a difference does that make? I hear Samsung has better battery utilization. Is that true?

I don't know if it's the Qualcomm chipsets or what HTC does with them, but the track record of HTC phones made with Qualcomm innards is not very good in terms of battery (q.v. Evo, Incredible, Tbolt, etc.). Moto did a good job with the DX, whose battery life is surprisingly good. The people I know with Samsung Galaxy S variants don't seem to have battery issues. Phones that are popular enough will usually get Seido and/or Mugen extended-life battery options.

Rule of thumb: don't get a new phone until it's been out at least 3 weeks and early adopters have reported on their experiences.
