General question about Android/Evo

I don't think so. It would make sense that the carriers would want to be able to keep track of your usage.

Thanks guys. I currently use an app on my ipod touch since I don't get service in my office. I guess I will stick with that during the day or set up my GV account.

I believe normal texts only go through the 1X (voice) network. This would explain why we can text while on a call but not access 3G data.

it is not possible on ANY carrier to text over wifi. the reason why you can text on your ipod is because you are using an app which is similar to going to a website and sending off a text to a phone, or even similar to sending an AIM message to a phone as a text.

but the text on the cell network must actually go thru the dedicated channel on the network, which cant get access to via wifi. hope that makes sense. so yes in theory an android app could exist to do this same function over wifi.

Is this a catch-all thread for general questions? If so, I have one for you.

Does installing/uninstalling a ton of apps leave remnants in the OS, ala Windows Registry?

Yes, I am an Android virgin.

you can do it through aim or yahoo messenger. It wont display as your mobile number though.
