Hi, Just wondering if there is a wiki for the Optimus V that has info on current recovery's, ROMs and how-to's? I sold my VM intercept and just picked up a Optimus V and have been combing the net (mostly here and XDA) trying to get my phone as customized as my intercept was. I am confused about some things and am hoping some of your guys could set me straight...

- The Gingerbread beta roms have one universal problem, no SMS or MMS messaging. Is this right? Is there any gingerbread roms for the optimus V that have fixed these issues??

- Does anyone know how to simply remove the Virgin Mobile boot-up animation and sounds safely?? Just so it skips over that on boot therefor starting the phone faster??

- I have flashed the Clockwork recovery to my phone using RomManager today, is there any other recovery's with more features? Can anyone list off the current known and working recovery's available?

- Can anyone list off the current known ROM's for the Optmus V? Can anyone recommend a ROM that has MMS and SMS working??

- Do you recommend I use data2ext on the Optimus V? Is there a proper guide for installing it? Has anyone who has installed it get a noticeable increase in performance?

- For those of you coming from the Intercept, Is there an App or Mod that changes the notification panel to show the Toggles on top? Like disable Wifi, Silent, Vibrate and such as the intercept had? I know there are widget for this but having them on the notification bar was pretty nice!

- Is there any site that has good themes for this device?

You flashed clockwork recovery to your optimus v? Would you mind letting me know how you did it i have been lost on what i should be doing to get it and any help would rock

sure, just download the RomTools from HERE and download the recovery from HERE. Then rename the recovery file to vrecovery.img and put it in the same folder as romtool. then start romtool and follow directs to flash recovery and thats it! if you need more help read in the romtools thread

A Wiki would be cool. There's not a lot of organization when finding or looking up things, although it's manageable in its current state. But it would be cool to have a Wiki.

I'm new to the Android and stuff, but I think I have some answers to a few of your questions.

- Currently, the Gingerbread ROMs have working SMS, but not working MMS.

- I'm not sure about changing the Virgin Mobile boot screen part. When I flashed to "Stock+Xionia" ROM, it got rid of the Virgin Mobile boot part along with the sound, but I think the "LG" screen takes the place of it, as it stays up longer. So, I don't think by taking it off will reduce your boot time. If you want to leave your phone with your current ROM, there's a free app called "Silent Boot" on the market which gets rid of the Virgin Mobile startup sound.

- All of the 2.2 (Froyo) ROMs have working MMS as far as I know, and all of the 2.3 (Gingerbread) ROMs don't have MMS working.

Not yet.

It can be done, but it changes boot times very little. It's not noticeable, at least not to me. The biggest benefit is the space savings. If you wipe everything, and Dalvik cache, then install Stock+Xionia or Aphrodite, neither have any boot animation.

If you still want it gone or you have a different rom, you will need something like Root Explorer and find it in the system. I believe it's either system/data/local, or data/local. Audio for it it is in system/media. Sorry this is from memory, I may be wrong. ADB can do it as well, but will be more difficult. I don

Personally I like Xionia (used in Mmmark111's utility) as it works with all known roms.

All 2.2 roms should have everything working like stock. No 2.3's do currently.
