Just wanted to talk about the other specs that this phone is likely to have:

Rumored so far:
4.6" 720P display, likely AMOLED, to keep with the rest of the RAZR line/maximize the thinness of the device
3300MH battery
LTE

Rumored from comment sections, cannot find any articles to back up:
12-13MP camera
Quadcore
OR
Snapdragon S4

Assumed based on current high-end standards:
1gig of RAM

Unknown:
GPU
HDMI/MHL port
Docking connector
Front facing camera specs

Dont be suprised to see a Droid RAZR MAXX with ICS and HD screen, with all other specs the same.

Droid RAZR MAXX HD?

Lets hope not

I agree. While I'm no expert I'd bet the new Razr Fighter will be exactly like the Razr Motorola sells in China with the HD screen. I doubt there will be any wild improvment in specifications.

Given the way Motorola names their devices I'd bet your guess is 100% correct. :)

Here's a link to a site that provides a pretty good overview of the Chinese version of the RAZR - Click here

The YouTube video they shot shows one Chinese RAZR with a 13 MP Camera and Dolby Digital Sound with a huge speaker bar on the back of the phone. I'd buy that phone in a heartbeat if it comes to the U.S. as the RAZR Fighter.

I doubt we'll see the Dolby Digital model anytime soon, but I'd be willing to bet that the Fighter is the Maxx HD, the very one released in China.

Moto could have just released the 'Razr Maxx HD' back in November, I'm sure, but with this 'staggered' release strategy, I'm sure they're making more cash than if they had just released one model.

Plus, why wasted all the good selling points on one phone? The Razr was the thinnest, so it sold. The Maxx was thin and had the best battery of any Smartphone, so it sold. And the Fighter will have those points plus the HD screen, so that will sell as well. But, the old models will still sell as well, as some people will decide an extra $100 isn't worth the added battery life, or HD screen.

Its a good short term strategy. But, long term, it will probably alienate some customers who are upset because they bought X phone before Y/better phone came out.

To call this phone, "Fighter", I would hope they are really going to go all out. Then again, one might have thought they would have done that when they tacked on the word, "Maxx".

This is the time of year where we always see a round of big phones on Verizon, so hopefully it won't be a let down.

I am looking at the Droid Razr MAXX, to purchase next week, but heard of this new phone. Will it possibly be a better phone then the Razr MAXX? Will it have a better display, better camera, better processor and the same battery as the MAXX? The question is...Should I wait? Will it be even thinner with the robust battery? How long will I most likely have to wait? And last, does it matter if I upgrade to 4.0 on the MAXX, or have it native on Fighter? Is there a difference and worth waiting for?

Not sure how anyone outside of Motorola could answer those questions. All they could do is assume and that is not what you are looking for.

Hopefully, it will be better than the Maxx, and from RUMORS it most likely will have a better screen.

As for is it better to get ICS on a new phone vs. an update on the Maxx. If Moto handles the upgrade to the Maxx with ICS like it did with GB to the Droid X, that would automatically make me go with the fighter. Their update of GB onto the X is still causing problems for us X owners (such as the GPS data on photos is so far off at times, it shows me in a different state, and the hard key lights sometimes (not all the time) stay on when being used as an alarm clock).

where was the "Fighter" name come from? i understand the "Vanquish" name came from the OS build number in the leaked image of its specs, so is the "DROID RAZR HD" but havent seen leaked images calling it "Fighter" ?

Has anyone seen any news on when this might actually come out? Wanted to buy the Razr MAXX until I started reading about this...

Not officially, i have been tracking this phone since couple of months now, but instead of the rumors getting more, they are getting less lol.
