generic mid tablet help!!!

hi all, im new to all this, hopefully ive posted in the right section, basically ive just brought one of these chinese android tablets with android 1.6 on,the model tab in its system option just says generic? i understand these arent the best tablets! i can connect to my wireless connection at home and use the internet perfectly fine, however whenever i try and view a video on youtube or download anything off the internet on it it just shows page cannot be displayed,it also keeps showing the message network timeout error, has anyone got any ideas? thanks for any help anyone can offer!
