Get the Bolt or wait?

So last week I picked up a Droid Charge to lock in the unlimited data before Verizon's tiers took effect. I was waffling between the Charge and Revolution, but ended up choosing the Charge due to some reports of the Rev's not-so-stellar 4G speeds compared to the others. The trade-off was accepting Samsung's lower quality and s@#t brown TouchWiz skin.

Now, I'm reconsidering. Back in the day I had a Thunderbolt, but ended up returning it because at that time I couldn't live with the battery life or the software bugs. Now that there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I'm considering going back to the Bolt. Another driving factor is that the ONLY way I'm going to be totally happy with the Charge is rooting it and installing a custom rom and kernel. That's a lot of work just to be happy living with a phone.

With the Bolt my biggest concern still is battery life. Thankfully right now my phone spends 8 or so hours at my desk at work so it can be plugged in, but the Bolt is also missing an accessory that would make it a ton easier to live with: a dock with an included second battery. Not a huge deal, but still something I can get with the Charge or Revolution.

Thoughts?

Ahh.. when is that scheduled for release? Will have that Sense 3.0 in it?

EDIT, just saw you didnt want to root. I saw that the rooting and flashing for Charge is super easy compared to the HTC Thunderbolt.

Also gingerbread update is like Big foot right now. I don't know when they will, or if they will, push it

Wait for a Motorola product if you can. Of course it may cost you more for data.

Well, I was hoping that the Bionic would be out within my 30 day exchange window at Best Buy. If not I can ebay it.

I just wasn't sure with the Bolt. I don't have anything against rooting the Charge, but I would prefer not to.

We have no idea when Gingerbread is coming nor do we know what will go along with it. That leaked screen-cap of the PDF detailing Gingerbread update with all the goodies was long ago debunked as a fake by numerous VZW employees and photo-shop experts.

If you can live with the Thunderbolt battery life such as it is now with MR2, then get it - I still think it is be best of the new 4G devices -- if not enjoy your charge or wait for the Droid 2 maybe. That will be launched within your 30 day return period. The Bionic wont as it is scheduled for Mid August.

A word of advice? Make a decision and make peace with that decision. There is no such thing as a perfect device and there will always be a device of devices with one or more things going for it that your device doesn't, and more that are just around the bend.

No, we will not get Sense 3.0. HTC has already stated that only the Sensation and newer devices will get it and older devices will NOT be updated to it.
